MN Lottery ‘Jan Cave’

The ‘Jan Cave’ was a really fun set for the Minnesota Lottery featuring Minnesota Vikings legend Jared Allen inside of a large natural history type diorama. The ad agency for this production was Periscope. The commercial was directed by Jack Cole.

For this production we used the basement of an existing home as a setting. In order to get the diorama into the basement we had to build it in sections that were designed to fit through existing patio doors. To make the diorama seem real we built set walls to close off a portion of the basement and matched the paint and trim.

The background of the diorama is a stylized image of a fictitious football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings at the Metrodome. The image was printed on vinyl and attached to a set wall by Brand Ink. The Green Bay Packer legs in Jared’s hands are mannequin legs with Packer pants on them. Problem was that the yellow pants did not match quite right and we had to paint the green and white stripes onto the pants. There is always a solution to a problem on set.

We do more than just set construction. The ‘Jan Cave’ is an example of a project where we handled Art Direction, Set Design, Set Construction, Prop Making, Set Dressing, Props, all Art Department on-set crew and Trucking.
